Compared to hot and non-breathable membrane-based hoods, the lightweight & breathable fabrics used in CQC’s Hood & Cowl System offer a substantial higher level of comfort combined with a much lower level of burden. The system allows the wearer to function at ease for extended periods in even the most difficult contaminated CBRN environments.
Designed & developed for both military and civil CBRN specialists, the Hood & Cowl System is constructed using a lightweight & breathable carbon inner, combined with a rugged flame-retardant outer fabric. Using securing straps for comfort, it is intended to be worn in a number of high threat CBRN environments, in conjunction with a range of clothing & PPE, for example, Combat Uniform, Nattle Dress Uniform, Public Order PPE, Business Attire etc.
When not in use, the Hood & Cowl System can be worn in a relaxed state (i.e. around the neckline) or can be stored discreetly in the wearers pocket or kit bag, ready for use when the situation arises. Donned in seconds, its primary use is in a high threat contaminated environment, either on its own to provide immediate respiratory protection to CBRN Vapours, or as part of an ensemble to provide full CBRN protection for the wearer. The fabrics of the Hood & Cowl System have been tested to NATO standards and offer 24 Hour protection against a range of CWA’s.
The Hood & Cowl System also forms an integral part of CQC’s CPU System, the SHIELD.
