CQC was recently approached by Annie Bateman, a final year student at Ravensbourne University in London. Annie has a keen interest in technical textiles and protective clothing, and was looking to work with a British brand, using textiles to create a collection that is a hybrid of aesthetic and functional. CQC was able to provide fabrics and components that Annie hadn’t worked with before, enabling her to experiment in her designs more than she might otherwise have done. Her final collection was inspired by the leathers of 90s motorcycle racing and motorcross equipment, using recycled motorcross body armour and panelling to create an ergonomic silhouette to mimic the shape of the body when sat on a motorbike, and a mix of fabrics for breathability.
Annie’s collection will make up part of Ravensbourne’s display at London Fashion Week.
